Main Rootstock

Increased precocity, decreased vigor, productive stability, seeking uniform orchards, best size and quality of fruit, among others, are part of the main objectives to be achieved when deciding which rootstock will be used in a replanting. In order to meet our customers’ requirements, Univiveros® has the following rootstock available:

This rootstock is valuable in dry sandy soils, where it has very good adaptability. – It is a good alternative for replanting and for less vigorous varieties.

Phytophthora-tolerant, low presence of shoots, and excellent anchoring capacity.

Recommended for use in light soils without excessive moisture problems.

It is moderately susceptible to root rot; however, it possesses a great adaptability to different soil types. It is moderately susceptible to bacterial canker and resistant to woolly aphid. Recommended for less vigorous varieties.

Semi vigorous rootstock, recommended in light soils without drainage problems.

It is susceptible to Phytophthora. Use in replanting situations is not recommended.

Resistant to woolly aphids, has a high production potential, excellent anchoring capacity, and does not produce shoots.

Semi-vigorous rootstock. It has high tolerance to disease, is good for replanting, has high tolerance to asphyxia and resistance to bacterial canker. It provides precocity, good productivity, and excellent anchoring capacity.

It produces shoots and is susceptible to woolly aphid, presence of gall, and has moderate resistance to Phytophthora.

Intermediate vigor. This rootstock does not generate a lot of shoots, but produces a high percentage of Burrknots; it is tolerant to woolly aphid and susceptible to Phytophthora and bacterial canker.

It is an excellent choice for high density plantations.

Dwarfing rootstock that induces precocity, producing large size fruit. It adapts to different soil conditions, but is not recommended for use in dry and light soils.

It has high tolerance to replanting situations, some tolerance to asphyxia and tolerance to Phytophthora. Low tolerance to Agrobacterium and to woolly aphid.

Very similar to M.9 Pajam2, but somewhat less vigorous.

It does not have the same tolerance to replanting, but has all the other features of Pajam2.

Type of plants

Varieties developed on one and two year old rootstock. Large plants with large number of feathers with great root mass and excellent source of reserves, ensuring the success of the plantation.

Both products are delivered in July-August, in bunches of 10 and 20 plants depending on the size of the plant; therefore, the customer receives packs according to plant size making the plantation more uniform.

Varieties with two years of development, obtained by pruning it down to 1 m tall after the first year of growth. It is a more developed plant, with very good size, branched, good root development and excellent reserves, which ensures the success of its planting.

Univiveros® has generated objective criteria to allow assessing and ensuring the quality of plant vigor in relation to its size and root development.

The size is measured at 5 cm above the rootstock-variety graft union; this allows greater uniformity in the customer’s order, providing a homogeneous product that will facilitate the cultivation practices of the orchard. According to the above, the sizes used are the following:

CALIBRE MILIMETROS
S (Super) 19,1 mm y mayores
XL (Extra Large) 16,1 – 19,0 mm
L (Large) 12,1 – 16,0 mm
M (Medium) 10,1 – 12,0 mm

Traceability of propagation material:

We have a rigorous system of labeling and registration of propagation material resulting in codes for each species, variety, and origin of each one of the plants at all times.

Traceability in the production process:

In addition to the care we take concerning our sources of propagation materials, we have a rigorous labeling system of propagating material including coded records of varietal identity and origin in each of the propagated plants during the entire production process.

Free of visible pests and diseases:

Univiveros® is a nursery officially registered in the SAG, so it receives the corresponding

control of soil, plants, and source of material by the authority over the entire period of plant

production, as stated in the current regulations. This ensures that the plants are free of visible pests and diseases.
